Seymour
Duncan Hot Mod Preamp Module
I have been able to complete this page thanks to Alan Ezersky who has sent me the factory schematic for this
module. Thanks!
The Hot Mod has two controls mounted on top of the module,
a
volume and a gain control.
There is a high power MOSFET mounted on the back side of the
module, and a 1-3/4"x5/8"
heat sink to cool it.
The PCB is double sided, with most of the components
surface
mounted on the internal side of the PCB. Volume and gain controls
are 250K trim pots.
The module is apparently powered by B+
voltage, which is approx. 360 to 400 VDC.
Overall, I am impressed with the quality and design of this
module, compared to the workmanship on some of
the other modules
I have seen. Nice piece of engineering on Seymour Duncan's part.
Due to the complexity
of this module, I have not attempted to
make a PCB layout or schematic, as it is not a DIY-friendly
module.
